Pon Farr.

It's funny how scifi movies don't tackle the inherent evolution of societal norms and customs (greater acceptance of homosexuality, greater representation of women eg) and modern concerns such as environmental degradation and social unrest. Perhaps it would be logical to presume the prediction of such writers towards a singularity and total homogeny of culture as the only means of achieving peace. Very Vulcan.

It is still illogical, however, that they should be advanced in technology and yet degenerate in ascribing to stereotypical notions of humanity.

But then again, they're scifi movies, not created for the purpose of spreading public awareness but for the entertainment value of shiny phaser guns, warp speeding across the Neutral Zone, and pointy-eared, emotionless humanoids who require violent, life-threatening copulation every seven years in order to survive.

And yes, I only wrote this to bring up Pon Farr. For once the title matches the content.

Not really.

But still, it is really quite... Fascinating.
