Morning, I was reading through Biology and landed on a page which showed a pollen grain nucleus penetrating the style of a flower. It somehow gave me the inspiration to write another kid story, which brought back a memory so old that I've skipped it 'til now... And i'm gonna tell it to you.The Story of Super Egg. (a little altered)Once upon a time there was a magical duck lying on a bed. While the magical duck was about to meet its other magical duck friends it felt a convulsion in its stomach. "Quack?" it quacked.Silence. And then another convulsion came, this time more vigorous."Quack?" it quacked again, this time more questioningly. And then the convulsions became more violent so that the magical duck started to thrash in bed. He felt a lump in his throat, but it was not because he wanted to shed magical duck tears. It was because of something harder, heavier, more concrete and... ovalish? The magical duck coughed once, and then twice, and then thr - SPLAT!A large white egg flew out of its mouth and crashed on the whitewashed walls of the bedroom. Slowly and stickily and eekily, the mess of albumin and cracked pieces of eggshell oozed their way down the wall. The magical duck watched from a distance, not quite sure what's happening or whether it's safe...When the mass had completely landed on the floor, the magical duck began to approach (cautiously!). But when it looked there was no sticky or eeky mass on the floor. Instead, the magical duck found a large white egg- neither cracked or gooed - but just plain and abnormally large. Then two similarly large eyes popped out of the shell, followed by a wide cheeky smile. "Super Egg!" the egg shouted in delight. And it rolled out the window. The thing about super eggs is that they can crack, but they have the ability to magically piece themselves back together when they do. And so Super Egg rolled far and wide. She rolled to Milan and then Egypt and then Portugal and then Greece and in between going from Panama to Slovakia she bumped into a tree. But it wasn't just any tree, it was a tree unlike anything Super Egg has ever seen. It was a tree, that bore pie. The pie tree was sad. It was winter, and all its leaves had fallen so that it was reduced to barren woodstock. When Super Egg crashed into its side, the single slice of pie left hanging on its branches had fallen and squished into the patch of grass next to Super Egg. The pie tree sighed. "What's wrong?" asked Super Egg."I am incomplete and therefore no one wants to be my friend. No birds want to perch on my branches nor humans want to sit at my feet nor trees want to sing with my rustling. Sigh..." sighed the pie tree."Well... then I'll be your friend. I'll take care of you until birds want to perch on your branches and humans want to sit at your feet and trees want to sing with your rustling. Don't sigh...""You would do that?""Yes, of course I would." And Super Egg flashed him the biggest brightest smile.Super Egg and the pie tree became friends. And it didn't take long before spring came, and once more the pie tree bloomed majestically. Super Egg was exhausted but happy as she looked up upon the pie tree... but what no one knew was that Super Egg had fallen - fallen indeed - deeply in love with the pie tree. It was very happy now. Very happy talking to its friends. Always very happy talking to its friends. Days passed and more and more birds perched on its branches and humans sat on his feet and trees sang to his rustling... Days passed and more and more Super Egg felt neglected. But it was okay... One day, Super Egg decided she wanted to tell the pie tree how Super Egg felt. So she rolled up the pie tree into one of its branches and prepared to speak. "Hey... AHHH!"An eagle landed on the branch and started pecking on Super Egg. Super Egg cried for help but the pie tree was far too busy talking to his other friends and as Super Egg tried to avoid the eagle, Super Egg lost balance and fell from the height. She crashed and broke into a million pieces, but she didn't really know whether she wanted to piece herself back up once again. The eagle looked at the mess of an egg and flew off causing a leaf to fall from the pie tree into her albumin. She pieced herself back together.Just then, Zephyr blew, causing the leaves of the pie tree to rustle. His friends seem to like it, so with a big huff the pie tree sweeped the wind with all its strength, not knowing that Super Egg was being blown away, her cries for help muted by his friends' laughter.Super Egg was blown away so far that she couldn't find her way back. She looked and looked and rolled and rolled until she grew tired and weak though she didn't know why. After all, Super Egg was a super egg. Super eggs don't grow weak... While deep in thought, Super Egg crashed on a rock and into pieces. And when the piece of eggshell which held his eye looked, it met with the single pie tree leaf which had lived inside her all this while as she searched and searched for the pie tree... And then she realized that the leaf had been absorbing Super Egg's albumin and that was why Super Egg got weaker...Super Egg did not piece herself back together. Super Egg died on that very spot, watching contented as the only memory left of the pie tree consummed her to the very end.
